Budgeting

Do I really need a budget?

Budgeting. Blah. It might as well be a swear word. Most people have the same reaction when they hear the B word – they instinctively recoil.

Do you really need a budget?

Maybe not.

If you know where all of your money goes…

If you’re living well within your means…

If your bills get paid in full and on time…

If you’re debt-free or working towards it…

If you always pay yourself first…

If you have a solid rainy day savings account…

If you’re on track with retirement saving…

If you’re addicted to investing and have squeezed out every single extra dollar you can in order to invest more…

But most of us need a little help.

If you ever find yourself wondering where the money went at the end of the month, getting a knot in your stomach before checking your bank balance, or struggling to meet your savings goals, then a budget is probably going to be your friend.

The idea of budgeting might be painful, but the benefits are usually pretty sweet.

Do it right and it’s almost like winning Instant Kiwi. What if the word budget meant going on a trip to Fiji or buying your dream car? Because it could.

With a budget you tell your money where to go and make a surplus that you can put toward the things you really want.

Blah? I think not.

What’s there to lose, and how much is there to gain?

Take back control of your cash – start your own budget today!
